SUPERVISOR SAYLOR TEAMS WITH YOLO FARM BUREAU FOR “CROWN JEWELS” TOUR OF COUNTY’S TOP AGRICULTURE COMMODITIES
Rice, tomatoes and grape growers to be highlighted in Yolo “Farm to Every Fork” event

Woodland, Calif., August 15, 2013 ─ Yolo County Supervisor Don Saylor (district 2, Davis) and the Yolo County Farm Bureau are collaborating on a tour of Yolo County’s top three crops by volume.

The “Crown Jewels” of Yolo County tour will take place on Saturday, August 24, from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Attendees will gather at the Yolo County Fairgrounds, 1250 Gum Ave., in Woodland, for a bus trip to the tour’s highlighted Yolo County farms.

The “Crown Jewels” tour will highlight the commodities of Muller Ranch (processing tomatoes and wine grapes) and Conaway Ranch (rice).

The tour is part of the “Yolo Farm to Every Fork” event series, highlighting farm contributions and food security issues in the region.

Yolo Farm to Every Fork emerged from a partnership of Yolo Food Connect and Yolo Ag & Food Alliance. These events dovetail with the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau’s “America’s Farm to Fork Capital” initiative.

“The Yolo Farm to Every Fork event series aims to showcase the bounty of our region while highlighting food security issues in our county,” said Supervisor Saylor. “We thank these farms for opening their land to us and for their contributions to agriculture in our county.”

“Seeing these growers in action will give tour guests a greater picture of the economy and the agricultural landscape of our county,” said Denise Sagara, executive director, Yolo County Farm Bureau.

Ticket prices for the tour and included lunch are $45. Please RSVP to the Yolo County Farm Bureau at 530-662-6316 or by email at [email protected].
