Fresh Food, For A Cause

image1In America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital, farm-to-fork extends well beyond fine dining.

On Sept. 7, Visit Sacramento and the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services kicked off the 4th annual Farm-to-Fork Month with a record-shattering food drive, designed to gather more than 170,000 lbs. of fresh produce for the food-insecure across the greater Sacramento region. In the process, the team hoped to break their 2015 Guinness World Record for the most fresh food raised in a 24 hour period and feed even more members of the community.

Thanks to the generous donations of regional farms, grocers, suppliers and individuals, the second annual Farm-to-Fork Food Drive generated more than 493,977 lbs. of fresh fruits and vegetables. Following the food drive, the produce was distributed by the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services and its partner agencies across the six county region.
