Farm-to-Fork Capital of America…
Now There’s an App For That!
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (September 18, 2013) – The Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau (SCVB) is pleased to announce that interested individuals can now download a FREE mobile application to get up-to-date information about special Farm-to-Fork events and festivities happening during the week of September 20-29, 2013. During the Capital City’s inaugural culinary celebration, regional farms, restaurants, wineries and craft breweries will join together to showcase Sacramento as the Farm-to-Fork Capital of America.
The FREE mobile application is available to download on both the Android (Google Play) and iOS platforms (iTunes App Store) for iPhone and iPad. The Farm-to-Fork App provides information that vendors, sponsors and attendees will want to have during the week-long celebration including event details with the ability to buy tickets, refer to location maps, check hotel listings, receive up-to-the-minute news and more. During the week, area farms, restaurants, wineries and breweries will host unique events promoting Sacramento as America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital, and local hotels will feature packages that encourage visitors to attend these events.
FarmAppetit created the app for the event and Founder, Dana F. Smith explains, “I approached the organizers of the Farm-to-Fork event committee because I am excited about this initiative and wanted to participate by offering a mobile platform to facilitate getting this information into everyone’s hands.” The mobile application will give users the choice to “Opt In” so that they can receive news alerts about all the events, get advance ticket sale notifications and stay up-to-date on what is happening during the week-long Farm-to-Fork celebration.
The mission of the Farm-to-Fork movement is to bring awareness to the Sacramento region’s local food production, consumption and sustainability as well as the contribution and exportation of sustainable products to the rest of the nation and world.
The Farm-to-Fork Capital of America movement is proudly presented by the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau, the City of Sacramento and the Downtown Sacramento Partnership. The week-long culinary celebration could not be possible without a motivated and involved food and wine community along with generous business partners such as SaveMart, Chipotle, Raley’s Family of Fine Stores, Kaiser Permanente, Arden Hills, California Restaurant Association Sacramento Chapter, UC Davis, Nugget Market, Jiffy Lube, ReFuel by Atlas Disposal, Bank of America, American Culinary Federation, California Foundation of Agriculture in the Classroom, California Pears, Caterpillar – Holt of California, Clean Cities Sacramento, Comstock’s Magazine, Farm Appetit, General Produce, Institute of Technology, International Greenhouse Co., Leverage Buying Group, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Petaluma Poultry, Produce Express, Sacramento Bee, Sacramento International Airport, Sacramento Magazine, SacTown Magazine and Sysco.
