Santana Diaz

Legends Hospitality, Golden 1 Center Sacramento-Home of the Sacramento Kings

SEASONAL. LOCAL. CREATIVE. These descriptions fully define the passion and characteristics that guide Executive Chef Santana Diaz at Golden 1 Center. Together with veteran culinarian and current General Manager Michael Tuohy, they developed an unprecedented food and beverage program in Sacramento. Chef Diaz’ vision has always been to bring a true Farm-to-Fork, restaurant-style culinary experience to all facets of the sports and entertainment venues that he has had the privilege to lead. The “Local Eats” program here in Sacramento has redefined what sports fans think about concessions food across the country. He was vital in finalizing menus and working with local purveyors to execute the Kings vision of the arena. Chef Diaz has spent his career creating stellar club offerings, customized suite menus, and specialty event menus. The new demands from the fans requesting real food versus the “processed staples” is the direction that he is proud to support and provide.

Most recently, Chef joins the Legends Hospitality team from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. He was the Executive Chef for Super Bowl 50 in 2016 where he and his team executed the first true Farm-to-Fork NFL experience for the highly publicized event, but he was eager to get back to one of his favorite cities in the US. Chef Diaz returned to the local Sacramento food scene armed with plenty of enthusiasm! Moving back to the area with his wife Christi and family now completes his recipe for success in his culinary world. Chef Diaz originally worked in the recognized Farm-to-Fork capital of California where he honed his skills at the James Beard acknowledged Taste Restaurant in Plymouth, The Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento, and as the personal sous chef for the NBA Sacramento Kings years ago. He moved on to the East and South Bays developing the culinary teams at Neiman Marcus and several Hyatt Regency hotels before making his move and assisting with the opening of Levi’s Stadium. His love of sports and food proved to be the inspiration he needed to become the Executive Chef at the most innovative facility in the country.

The Legends culinary team created a mantra when they opened Golden 1 Center. 90% of all food and beverage served to the fans is sourced within 150 miles of the arena. He has the opportunity work with the best vendors, artisans and restaurateurs in the marketplace, ultimately enhancing the fan experience and bring the quality of the food to another level. Chef leads a group of over 150 talented team members all striving to combine traditional sporting fare with extraordinary flavors and creativity. The unique partnerships established with the local chefs in Sacramento ensures that the Golden 1 Center will be the culinary blueprint for sports and entertainment venues in the future. Every effort is made to incorporate quality, local ingredients, seasonality, and sustainable products into our program. Chef Diaz intends to evolve the program and continue to listen to the fans and make every visit memorable at the Golden 1 Center.
