N’Gina Guyton is one of the most influential chefs pioneering Sacramento’s nationally celebrated food and dining scene. Whether it’s from her own kitchen, in front of the camera, or working with her charity The Verity Project, N’Gina’s innovative cuisine, industry insight, and local collaboration is in high demand. Patrons remain hungry for the hospitality they’ve grown accustomed to at her maiden restaurant South, and her latest concept, Jim Denny’s, is here to deliver. Jim Denny’s is a welcoming space to connect, build relationships, and relax in the Americana diner experience.

N’Gina has been in the hospitality industry for almost 30 years. She has worked for many of the most touted Sacramento restaurants at every position in operations and management. She began her career working for such companies as The Paragary Restaurant Group, The Starwood Hotel and Resort Family and The Selland Family of Restaurants. 

In 2009 she opened Eight American Bistro Catering, a small catering company specializing in custom menus for her clientele. In 2011, the company expanded to full service wedding and event planning; housing under one roof, planning, décor, rentals, catering, floral design and event staffing.  In 2014, N’Gina opened South Restaurant in Southside Park and continued to cater and wedding plan in the Sacramento area and beyond. She has owned and operated South for over 8 years to high acclaim and annual sales of over $2.5 million.

In the fall of 2023, Guyton reopened Jim Denny’s. Known as one of Sacramento’s most iconic establishments, Jim Denny’s is located in downtown Sacramento and offers a classic Americana diner items with modern twist.  The menu ranges from juicy double patty burgers to hot dogs topped with Taki and Togarashi mayo. The menu is small, but packed with options for vegan and vegetarians or those just wanting healthy options too.
